Day 5 of the 21 days of Gratitude Meditation

Gratitude awakens your true self.

I find this statement to be a little confusing. Don’t we all think we are our true selves? How does one connect with its own self? There is a magical beauty in being mindful of every aspect of who we are. This is why I think meditation is an amazing gift we can give ourselves and others.

How many of you are emotion stuffers? I am raising my hand the highest and waving it around.

How many of us never take the time to connect with ourself, or check in with ourself or take a pressure test on ourselves? Our bodies are such amazing creations and if we honor them by taking the time out to listen to them we will be amazed at what they are trying to tell us as well as giving us the answers we desperately seek from the outside world.

Today I was fortunate enough to do this meditation outside. I was able to take in G-d’s creation. Nature is so beautiful. It has a constant flow and constant rhythm. It all operates with or without man’s help. It is like a beautiful orchestrated dance constantly giving and receiving. The wind blowing through the trees, the gentle sounds that gives off. The bird rustling in the trees and grass create sweet songs of thankfulness and how everything is honest. Nothing in nature is trying to be anything other than what it is and was created to be. Nature is grounded and confident, an unspoken trust that is so beautiful when taken in for what it is. This is grace in action. Surrounded by nature, I am reminded that I am valuable and everything is ok. If the trees and birds don’t worry or fret over trivial things, why should I. In the silence of meditating, I was confronted by myself. Emotions that I would never be able to connect with if it wasn’t for me taking the time to purposely slow down and check on myself. By now I hope you’ve figured out I’m a woman, and a mother. So these little times of treasured peace I give to myself help me to be the best I can be in all the roles that I play. Many times we get so caught up in things that don’t have any value to us nor those around us. If we don’t deal with them it causes back up. Have you ever encountered a person that just couldn’t look you in the eyes, couldn’t focus enough to get out a full sentence? That is what back up looks like. It is the brains way of letting us know we need to slow down and bring things to the surface so we can honestly and lovingly deal with them. If you cannot connect with yourself you cannot connect with others. I encourage you to take the time to reconnect with yourself. Clear away the back up and watch things shift in your life as you become more mindful in each moment of your life. This will bring about more gratefulness because you will be fully present in the moment, missing nothing and seeing the beauty of spirit flow through your life.

I knew this 21 days experience would be awesome but some words can’t express the level of healing and renewal that is taking place in my life.
